Table 6-6: Touchpads and Card Readers Options and Descriptions
Option Description Default
Device ID Select a device ID for the touchpad/card reader device that is to be
added to the system. The device ID is used for reporting device
status to the central station. All touchpad/card reader devices have
a device ID and a 16 character location description used for
identification in trouble or programming displays. Range is 1 -
199. Other system devices, such as 4815, 4825, and 4824, must
also have device ID numbers that cannot be duplicated here.

Serial Number This option is for entering the serial number for the touchpad/card
reader. (The serial number appears on a label on the touchpad.)
This is the number that the system uses to identify the device. It
must be unique for all 4821/4820 devices (including 4421, 4815 or
4825 zone expanders, and so on).
Enter up to 8 digits.
Note: 4421 cannot be used with the 4820 Control Panel.

Location Enter the location description for this touchpad/card reader. (Up to
16 characters.)

Auto Unlock Schedule Each door can be tied to a time schedule, allowing for an
automatic lock or unlock capability (for example, automatically
opening or closing a business during normal business hours). (See
Section 6.3.3 for more information about time schedules.)
If you select Never, doors are never automatically unlocked.
Locking and unlocking doors allowed only when the proper code
or card has been presented. If you select Always, a door is
unlocked or open for as long as this time schedule type is selected.
For example, use to unlock the door in case of a system failure.
Also, for applications where the door has to be installed with a
controllable door strike, but is normally left in the unlocked
condition.
While unlocked, the door strike is continuously activated so that
the door can be opened at any time. The Door Monitor zone (see
option below) is disabled while the door is unlocked (the door
must be closed to allow arming).
Never
Egress Allows someone to activate door access without the need for a
card or code, and without tripping an alarm. A typical application
is when someone needs to remotely open a door that is normally
locked via the doorstrike. Zone selected must be programmed as
“Egress-Input” zone type.
